Hambright - International Space Station Contact

On May 9th, 2002, students at Hambright Elementary School spoke live with International Space Station crew member Dan Bursch. Twelve students asked questions via a live HAM radio link with the space station as it orbited 250 miles above the earth.

James "Yogi" Bear and his team from the Southern Pennsylvania Amature Radio Club (SPARC) provided technical expertise to make the long distance HAM radio call a success.

Astronaut Dan Bursch is a former Hambright student. Bursch has visited Hambright several times yet this was the first time that he has spoken with students live from space.
